PROPEL® Orthodontics in Hunt Valley

Propel Orthodontics logo

PROPEL Orthodontics offers innovative devices to help quickly shift the teeth into proper alignment. These devices can be used in coordination with most orthodontic treatments, including Invisalign and traditional metal braces. Essentially, this technology can help cut the time of Invisalign and traditional braces treatment in half by encouraging the body’s natural healing response.

The PROPEL treatment works by creating micro-perforations in the bone underneath the gums to help stimulate bone regrowth. The VPro™ Series at-home treatment option is a device that provides high-frequency vibration to your teeth and gums to move your teeth faster.

PROPEL® Orthodontics FAQs

Propel can help you get your dream smile in a shorter timeframe. Learn more below.

Am I eligible for PROPEL?

If you are receiving Invisalign treatment, you are likely an ideal candidate for PROPEL. As mentioned, PROPEL can help accelerate Invisalign treatment, giving you your ideal smile in a shorter amount of time. However, if the gum tissue is compromised, you may not be able to receive PROPEL. Our team can perform a complete evaluation to determine if PROPEL® Orthodontics is right for you.

How does Propel speed up orthodontic treatment?

Propel works by creating small, controlled micro-perforations in the bone tissue around the teeth. These perforations stimulate the body’s natural healing response, increasing bone remodeling activity. This process allows teeth to move more quickly into alignment. As a result, patients can often complete treatment months faster than with orthodontics alone.

Is the Propel procedure painful?

Most patients experience only mild discomfort during the Propel procedure, similar to what they might feel after an orthodontic adjustment. The area is typically numbed beforehand to ensure comfort. Afterward, some minor tenderness may occur for a day or two. This discomfort usually subsides quickly and can be managed with over-the-counter pain relievers.

Is PROPEL Orthodontics safe for patients with severe malocclusion?

Yes. PROPEL Orthodontics is safe for all patients undergoing any orthodontic treatment. PROPEL has been FDA-cleared for use. Patients do not report any discomfort or pain as a result of using this system.

How soon will I notice results from Propel?

Patients often start noticing accelerated movement within the first few weeks after the procedure. Because Propel enhances bone remodeling, teeth can shift more easily between adjustments or aligner changes. The exact rate of progress varies by individual and treatment type. Most patients complete their orthodontic treatment several months earlier than expected.

How many Propel sessions will I need?

The number of sessions varies depending on your specific orthodontic needs and how quickly your teeth respond. Some patients need only one session, while others may benefit from additional ones during treatment. We will monitor progress and recommend follow-ups if necessary. Each session helps maintain the accelerated pace of tooth movement.
